LONELINESS OF THE NIGHT

As the soft gentle breeze,
Caress the leaves on the tree,
The warm air lightly brushes my skin,
The moon plays hide and seek with the clouds,
And they danced around in the darkening sky,  
Bringing tears to my eyes. 
In the loneliness of the night this broken heart cries out!
"Mend me", "love me",
Touch me once again with your warmth,  
With your gentle ways,  
Touch me once again with your love.
For I cannot live like this much longer,  
I cannot take the loneliness of the night,
Because it thought of how close your love was to my heart.
As I write and as I think,  
Of how much I have hurt you!
