Education, a Necessity
A mentor of mine once said, "if your grandparents who were not educated should own a home, I see no reason you should not also own one as an educated fellow". The point he made here is not limited to eduction being a house provider but an avenue that provides a platform for opportunities and broad spheres of influence.
Most parents have imbibed giving their children the best of education according to their financial capacity as a priority. From their experiences, they have been able to highlight the importance of education and it's relevance in determining how well a child will fair in life.
However, inspite of the
imperative work of education in the society, the economy where we reside in has created limited opportunities to express the full deposits of education. Even in this condition, I still see possibilities because education is a deposit that can rise above the limitations the environment poses. It expands your mind, nourishes your thoughts and energizes your behavior.
Education opens your eyes to opportunities and prepares your mind to interpret them. I define education as an enlightener. Irrespective of what you have decided to do with your life, whether it is academic inclined or not make sure you get educated. Even if you are going to be a pastor ,get good education. Education moves you from doing things the crude way to the sophisticated way.
When your parents give you a chance to be educated, it is a priceless gift that you should nuture and get the best out of. There are so many fighting hard to get such an opportunity.
It is also important to keep in mind that you should never stop learning, anybody that stops learning is ready to die. As a young person,you should strive to learn something new everyday. What sustains your relevance in any setting is how much you know than your counterparts, this is what sets you apart and ahead.
One of my lecturers said" you are sent to school to widen your horizon on how to be successful, be a better person and be useful to yourself and the community at large". Any activity that you do that discourages a chase after knowledge and education is out to kill and limit you, run from it!
